Hi, we are Alex Roley and Chris Browne
and together we run Horizon Lets.
Upon leaving the military, Chris returned to university for a Masters in Building Surveying to evolve what had been years of being an enthusiastic amateur landlord. Instead of opting for university accommodation Chris bought an ugly duckling refurb project and lived in it while at university – the best way to learn perhaps!
This was the start of a journey spanning over a decade of purchasing property & completing multiple renovation projects.
Chris has stuck to his “Single Let” strategy mainly utilising Permitted Development – there are no bandwagons or attempt at shiny pennies here with more creative strategies! Chris has gone on to complete bigger projects, for himself and clients – the worse the property condition, the more exciting the opportunity usually. Chris is a Director of the lettings agency, while also the founder of construction and block management companies so despite not diversifying his property strategy, he has a few businesses with his “boring Single Lets”!
As the founder of The Horizon Group, Chris enjoys working in various parts of the property industry as he seeks to make Horizon synonymous with quality service, reliability and a customer-focussed approach within property.
After working several sales and lettings jobs Alex followed his passion for property taking the plunge to become a full-time property developer/Landlord. After many successful projects across Sheffield, he is now keen to help other Landlords in their property journey.
With a large new build site part of his growing portfolio, Alex enjoys learning the trails.
Alex is a regular speaker at a monthly property network meeting in Sheffield where he presents each month a Lettings update – which is never dull considering the constant changes in legislation and as the property cycle in Sheffield reaches a climax, and the city continues to provide great property investment opportunities, there will always be plenty to discuss… and he’s not shy of getting people the real version of the good, the bad and the downright ugly!
Since moving to the South Yorkshire countryside from “down south” Andrea has developed a deep love for the Great Outdoors, as she is taken for a walk every morning by her dogs of various sizes… and various attitudes to early morning walks!
A landlord herself since 2001, ever keen cook and a regular member of various charity groups, Andrea loves being part of the busy local community and has worked in a primary school kitchen and running her own catering company previously – spinning plates, sometimes literally, is a regular occurrence for her!
Andrea has been with Horizon Lets from the very start, making the Lettings Manager role very much her own and overseeing the operations of the company – it’s lucky she enjoys being busy!
Samantha has worked within the lettings industry since 2010 and has done a large array of roles in this time. From working her way up from an apprenticeship to being a Senior Negotiator with Chesterfield based letting agents, Samantha really knows the local rental market like the back of her hand!
Throughout her career in lettings and working in various roles, she has experienced almost every scenario – therefore there really isn’t anything that fazes her! She is a mum of a four year old daughter and an owner of a border collie who thinks he is a child too; therefore away from the desk, she’s always kept on her toes.
As the Business Development Manager she assists with the operations at Horizon Lets as well as raising the profile of the company; Samantha has been instrumental in promoting Horizon and the service we offer to Landlords. With her passion for property and enthusiasm for sharing her knowledge, Samantha loves chatting to prospective landlords and seeing where we can help.

Horizon Lets is a disruptive start-up company created by landlords, for landlords. As landlords ourselves, we were unsatisfied with the high fees charged by lettings agencies and the poor level of service provided to all parties.

Our management team includes a magnificent Lettings Manager, Andrea Wild. She watches over all parts of the company and ensures we always deliver the highest level of service.
