  • Boeing

  • McLaren Automotive

In 2018 McLaren Automotive opened a £50 million composite technology centre at the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre helping to place Sheffield City Region at the forefront of global automotive technology. More than 200 jobs are being created and it is estimated that the centre will provide at least £100 million for the local economy by 2028.

  • Heart of the City II

Heart of the City II is delivering Sheffield city centre a commercial, leisure, retail and residential focal point. Building on the success of the original Heart of the City project, the current 1.5 million square foot development will transform this area of the city centre into a dynamic mixed-use district that will help attract more jobs and investment and ultimately make Sheffield an even more rewarding place to live and work. The project is expected to create around 500 construction jobs and the scheme should support between 5,500 and 7,000 jobs once completed.

  • New Era Square

New Era Square is a regeneration development project in the city centre funded by inbound Chinese investment and conceived by a UK-Chinese businessman, Jerry Cheung. The development has been dubbed ‘Sheffield’s Chinatown’ and ‘Sheffield’s very own version of New York’s Times Square’ by the local media and has attracted the attention of the National press.

Phase one of the scheme included retail and office space, student accommodation and 2000 square metres of public space with phase two including further student accommodation, retail units, restaurants and a medical centre. The project has created close links with China allowing Sheffield to become a gateway for Chinese businesses looking to invest in the area.

With the continuing growth of high quality industries and an impressive higher education sector, it is not surprising that the population of Sheffield is predicted to grow up to 15% by 2035. The combination of many graduates remaining in the city each year on top of the large number of young people migrating to the city from elsewhere in the UK annually has created a city which feels alive and exciting. Sheffield is a city that has embraced its creativity, cultural heritage, and world-class universities to drive it towards exponential growth.
